What and whom?

Scobe Publishers is an independent publishing label heavily intent on exploring some of the darker recesses of Irish society in a candid but darkly comic way.

Francis James was born in Dublin and grew up in County Kildare, spending his childhood Saturdays visiting his grandparents in Cabra, watching cartoons, and being the family deadbeat. From an early age, he wrote stories about all sorts of random shite, and when he animated his own film at fourteen, he acquired a taste for darker, harder-edged material that followed him into adulthood, where he wrote two dark comedies for university assignments. Faced with the grim prospect of being told his content was forever unsuitable for mainstream publishing, his debut novel, "Yeh Can't Stone Women Anymore" was published under his own label on October 29th 2023. His follow-up, a neo-noir about culchies, is nearing completion.
